TEXTILE ART IN MOTION SWEDEN – JAPAN showcases a number of key works from NoKiimo collection by Mylla Ek, a Swedish textile / costume designer who explores cultural boundaries between Sweden and Japan through artistic garments. Nokiimo collection is a reflection and interpretation on the ancient concept of kimono combined with folklore clothing and western tailoring traditions.
Mylla Ek’s sensitivity to body, space and textiles is grounded in her history as the third generation artist within textiles and contemporary dance. By questioning the idea of cultural identity in a philosophical, poetic and playful way, Nokiimo collection opens a dialogue between history and modern life challenges.
